The Atlantic Portuguese man o' war (Physalia physalis), also known as the Man-of-War, blue bubble, or floating terror, is found in the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Its venomous tentacles can deliver a painful (and sometimes fatal) sting. Despite its outward appearance, the Portuguese man o' war is not a jellyfish but a siphonophore: it is not a single multicellular organism, but a colonial organism made up of specialized minute individual organisms called zooids. These zooids are attached to one another and physiologically integrated to the extent that they cannot survive independently and function as if they were an individual organism. Taken at the Georgia Aquarium.
Canvas Gallery Wraps: Adorn your walls with an image printed on a ready-to-hang canvas! Genuine artist canvas with 1-1/4" depth, beautiful corners, and finished backing. Every frame is built with a solid face to support the canvas and keep it from deforming and loosening, so your canvas will always look as tight and flat as the day it was made.
Matted Prints: Order a print ready to be framed! Prints are mounted with a BLACK acid-free mat with a bright white bevel and white backing board. If you would prefer a white mat, please use the "note to seller" option on the final checkout page to request it. Prints are produced using archival inks and papers. Under normal conditions, your prints will retain their original appearance without fading or color shifting for 70 years. As with any piece of art, take care not to expose the image to high levels of moisture or sunlight. Displaying your print in a location with normal humidity levels and minimum exposure to ultraviolet light will allow you to enjoy the print for many years.
